Several years ago, I became infatuated with reversible stitch patterns—mainly because when designing scarves, wraps, or anything else viewed from both sides, I wanted each side to be equally beautiful.
After gathering about 200 reversible stitch patterns, I created the Marilyn Wrap/Scarf. Recently I decided it would be fun to knit a narrow cowl featuring eight different patterns, seven of which show unique designs on each side. This cowl starts with a provisional cast on then each different stitch pattern is worked for a few inches with a few rows of garter stitch between them. And all the guesswork has been taken out of this pattern. Just click here to view a video tutorial for each of the eight reversible stitches. The project is finished with a three-needle bind off. The result? Eight patterns that create fifteen different stitch pattern views—giving you two cowls in one.
Are you wondering what that beautiful yarn is? This pattern was designed for HiKoo's Sueño, and if you haven't tried this wonderful blend of superwash merino and viscose from bamboo you have a delightful experience waiting for you.
