Not all cable patterns are complicated. Some are so easy you don't need a cable needle and barely feel like you're cabling. Here are a few of James's cable patterns that produce lovely results and could also qualify as meditative knitting.
This sweater is designed to make the waist look small and the shoulders broader.
Complimentary StitchSaver™ Row Checker
Designer Knitting Pattern The designer knitting pattern presents a new fun way to create ribbing. The sleeves are worked entirely in two-by-two ribbing with the columns of knit stitches in cables that are fashioned without a cable needle. This top-down sweater is knit in one piece – no seams. And it was designed for Trendsetter’s Basis, a variegated yarn with subtle color transitions that are a delightful compliment to the cabled sleeves.
This pattern includes instructions for all sizes, a list of all abbreviations, a schematic for accurate blocking, and a glossary of terms. It is accompanied by our proprietary StitchSaver™ Row Checker. Plus, a link is provided to Knitting Help on our web site.

This jaunty beret is sure add a little wink to any outfit.
Complimentary StitchSaver™ Row Checker
Designer Knitting Pattern A band of little cables in ribbing starts the pattern. These cables are a delight because they do not require a cable needle. Then after adding 6 double increases every few rows, followed by double decreases you’ll have reached the crown of the hat. At which point you continue with a tiny I-cord tab that adds the finishing touch – just like every French beret.

Addison Sweater Designer Knitting Pattern

This sweater uses James’ Pinwheel Cable, which adds interest and fun to the classic pullover.
Complimentary StitchSaver™ Row Checker
Designer Knitting Pattern For Addison I experimented with a simple technique that resulted in cables that seem to be spinning. So, I named them pinwheel cables. They are fun to knit and the 6 columns of pinwheels on the chest turn this classic pullover into a very distinctive sweater. It is worked top down from a provisional cast on across the back of the shoulders. The front picks up provisional stitches so both sides can be worked to the underarm. Then the body is worked in the round. Each sleeve starts with picked up stitches that are worked from the top onfthe sleeve cap before the lower sleeve is worked in the round to the cuff. You’ll have a seamless sweater that can be tailored at the waist and finished at a length that suits your own personal style.

Clive Cabled Tie Designer Knitting Pattern
ECO-YARN PATTERN

Here is a modern take on a simple tie—a little four-stitch cable running vertically in the midst of one-by-one ribbing.
Designer Knitting Pattern This skinny tie is both modern and reminiscent of nostalgic looks from the 50s. The colorful cable is knitted into the tie using the intarsia technique. And surprise the cable disappears inside the knot at the neck. So enjoy this rather playful pattern and create a fun tie for a rather playful fellow, or for yourself.
