Knitted Village

Knitted Village

I thought knitting projects typically took the form of a garment, then I encountered artists engaged in yarn bombing. But, perhaps what's most amazing are the world’s smallest sweaters, no larger than the tip of your finger or a group of ambitious knitters inspired to knit their entire village in Northern Ireland. May Aitcheson started a knitting club, which created the massive model on display in the town’s memorial hall. The project has garnered a lot of attention and helped raise money for the local Macmillan Nurses' cancer support.

What will be their next project, perhaps a model of Belfast? Click here to see Nancy Frost's full story and additional photos. https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/entire-northern-ireland-village-knitted-wool-crochet-cloughmills-county-antrim
