Here is an extremely simple stitch that creates a wonderfully textured fabric. It is basically garter stitch with a few purl stitches on alternate rows. Doesn't that sound easy?

Multiple of 4 plus 3
- Row 1 (RS): K
- Row 2 (WS): (K3, p1) to last 3 sts, k3
- Row 3: K
- Row 4: K1, (p1, K3) to last 2 sts, p1, k1
