Pattern
Carmen is a beautiful modern take on the classic poncho. The rather remarkable Basis yarn is a blend of merino, alpaca and cotton, which results in a multi-season garment with sophisticated color variegation. The reversible stitches and construction allow you to showcase either a slip stitch or rib pattern. Knitted I-cord trim provides the finishing touch.

Basis- 75% Cotton, 16% Alpaca, 9% Cashmere – Fingering Weight 210 yarns/50 grams

A unique blend of cashmere and alpaca with micro threads of cotton. It has the elasticity and bounce of animal fibers, yet it’s mostly cotton – almost unbelievable. So, if in the past you have not enjoyed working with cotton, this yarn will surely change your mind.

Pattern
When I wanted to create a wrap and scarf that is truly reversible, I searched through my collection of over 200 reversible stitch patterns. Then selected a few that are equally beautiful on both sides. This design uses eight patterns that are mirrored in a sequence from end to end. The result is 16 unique stitches that create a beautiful, entertaining project.

Yarn
Trendsetter’s Basis, Fingering, 75% Cotton, 16% Alpaca, 9% Cashmere

While Basis is 75% cotton, you’re sure to believe it is entirely alpaca and cashmere. It does not feel, look or knit like a yarn that’s mostly cotton. The blended strand of alpaca and cashmere is wrapped in micro thin strands of cotton, which leave a glow of ultra-soft coziness.

Lana Grossa’s Solo Lino, Sport, 80% recycled linen, 20%, Eco-yarn, Eco-yarn

This choice of yarn is equally unique because it doesn’t have the stiffness of linen yarn. Instead its delightfully silky. And it is environmentally friendly, so it feels twice as good.

Pattern
This playful pattern is worked in a combination of classic stockinette and a fun mesh stitch. With optional eyelets at the lower corners, you can choose to attach the drawstring I-cords to create a backpack or eliminate them to make a simple drawstring shoulder bag.

HiKoo’s Popcycle - Sport - 50% Bamboo, 50% Polyester from recycled plastic bottles

Popcycle is an eco-yarn. It is exceptionally soft with a wonderful hand, yet cool and extremely strong. It looks beautiful due to a subtle tweed effect that is the result of each fiber taking the color differently when dyed. But the best part is there are 2 plastic bottles in each hank of yarn. A study in 2016 showed that Americans consumed 50 billion plastic bottles and only recycled 23%. Just one million plastic bottles recycled saves 250 barrels of oil and eliminates 180 metric tons of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere. So, knitting with this sturdy, soft, cool, beautiful fingering weight yarn feels good in more ways than one.

This yarn is the result of an international love affair between a colorful German and an elegant Peruvian. Worked in the fisherman’s rib stitch, you have all the nice benefits of brioche-style knitting but in a simple, loveable 2-row repeat. Zauberball Crazy and Sueño DK are a perfect couple. Each of the dual plies of Zauberball Crazy are dyed in distinctive variegations before being twisted together. The color blending is seductive.

While the pairing of superwash merino and bamboo makes for a Peruvian yarn that you simply can’t resist.
