Our favorite sporty sweater has been re-imagined in delicious Basis fingering weight. The pairing of two variegated yarns that were meant to be united almost guarantees compliments when you finish this project.

This fingering weight yarn is a very light and very special blend. It is mostly cool, soft cotton, that has been enhanced with a bit of wool to give it resilience. Plus, cashmere to add a luxurious glow. It provides clear stitch definition and has a delightful hand when knitting, because while being cotton based it knits like wool. And hemp is stronger and softer than cotton, will last twice as long and will not mildew. It’s a sustainable crop and an acre of hemp will produce as much fiber as 2 to 3 acres of cotton. While pesticides and herbicides are used in the production of other fibers, hemp requires none. Hand or machine wash, lay flat to dry or tumble dry.

A classic sporty designer knitting pattern for little athletes.

Have fun making this sweater for any young athlete or sports fan. The design draws from the traditional athletic look but is styled for a modern feel. You can chose extra fine merino wool or a comfy cotton blend. Both make it very wearable with a shirt or a t-shirt.

The sleeves and body are knitted separately in stockinette, then sewn together to create a classic crewneck. Both the upper body and sleeves are worked flat from the top down—casting on at the neck edge and knitting to the bottom of the armhole. Then the lower body and sleeves are worked in the round from the armhole to the cuff and hem.

Euroflax Sport - 100% Linen – Sport Weight

This sport weight linen yarn is wet spun from flax-fiber. Exceptional softness is achieved by fine splitting the long fibers and double boiling the yarn. Machine wash on gentle cycle using a non-bleach, mild soap. Dry in your dryer on a medium setting for 15 minutes, then lay flat to finish. For an even softer result, dry completely in the dryer. To enhance the sheen of the yarn, steam with a steam iron.

24 sts and 32 rows = 4"/10cm, washed and blocked.
