Enjoy knitting this classic sweatshirt pattern and end up with an elegant take on a sporty sweater.

Knit from the top down in one piece, there are no seams to be sewn. The neck band is knit first, then the upper yoke worked in short rows of twisted stockinette as you shape the neck and begin increasing for the raglan seams. After adding the signature triangle at the center front neck, you’re ready to proceed with the lower yoke in stockinette.

The body and sleeves are separated and the balance of the sweater continues in stockinette. The length can be tailored simply by removing the work from your needles and trying it on to guarantee it is exactly the length you desire.

A beautiful blend of white linen, cultivated in France, and richly dyed lamb’s wool from the Swabian Alps. The virgin wool contributes bounce, wear-ability, and structure, while the strong, breathable linen fibers will soften with wear, creating the perfect yarn for a long-lived sweater.

This casually elegant piece in a cashmere, merino and silk blend yarn incorporates single cables down the center of the chest, back and each sleeve. Set against a field of stockinette, and worked using the intarsia technique, the result is a multi-season sweater that can be worn from fall to spring. Comprised of four pieces, front, back, and two sleeves, each worked top down and with German short rows to shape the neck, the result is a project that is rewarding in more ways than one. The knitting is interesting, and the outcome is luxurious.

FREE UNIQUE ROW CHECKER

Did you ever think you would knit a bomber jacket? This sporty collegiate design is a modern day take on the good ole fashioned bomber. Worked from the top down, it is as much fun to make as it is to wear. The back, left front and right front are knit from the neck to the underarm where they are joined and continued in one piece. The ribbed waist band is incorporated. The sleeves are knit from the neck to the to the wrist and ribbed cuffs are added. The sleeves and body raglan seams are sewn, then stitches are picked up around the neck for the collar. Underarm seams are sewn, the zipper is attached, and zipper facings sewn in place.

The result is a unique sweater that may bring back fond memories of college years, or garner a few compliments on your handiwork.

Simpliworsted is a perfect all around worsted weight yarn. A superwash merino blend available in vibrant colors, which is also at times described as feeling like butter.

HiKoo’s CoBaSi, 55% Cotton, 16% Bamboo, 8% Silk, 21% Elastic Nylon
CoBaSi is wool free to avoid irritation or overheating, soft and gentle on the hands with a wool-like stretch and machine washable.

FREE UNIQUE ROW CHECKER

Here is a contemporary take on the classic raglan sweater. Bands of slip-stitch rib create the raglan detail and provide an elegantly subtle fashion statement. This top down design has no seams to be sewn. It combines traditional stockinette with a fresh approach to shaping the yoke. The neck is shaped and the yoke is worked while raglan pattern bands are created between the front, back and sleeves. At the underarm, the body and sleeve stitches are separated, then each section is worked in the round and finished with a ribbed hem and cuffs. Stitches are picked up along the cast on edge and a ribbed neckband completes the sweater. The result is a timeless creation in a luxurious, natural blend of fibers.
